Recognizing the vast opportunities for bilateral agricultural trade and cooperation with the Republic of Korea, the Department of Agriculture opened in Seoul the Philippine Agriculture Office (PAO) in January 2016 as the latest addition to its Foreign Agricultural Service Corp (FASC).
The Philippine Agriculture Office (PAO) Seoul is the representative office of the Philippine Department of Agriculture in the Republic of Korea (ROK). Pursuant to the economic diplomacy thrust of the Philippine government, the PAO handles the agriculture and fisheries trade and investments portfolio at the Philippine Embassy. The PAO closely monitors agriculture and fisheries trade and investment ties between the Philippines and the Republic of Korea.
The PAO Seoul’s responsibilities include, (a) policy advocacy and DA representation in South Korea with relevant government agencies and companies, upholding the Philippine interest in relation to bilateral issues on agri-fisheries trade, food safety, veterinary and plant health (sanitary and phytosanitary issues); (b) technology search and explore possible collaboration in technology sharing, training and research activities to bolster the productivity of the Philippine agriculture and fisheries sector; (c) agri-fisheries market access, trade and investment promotion and (d) secure Official Development Assistance and technical cooperation in agriculture and fisheries.
