ADVISORY: NOMINATIONS FOR THE PRESIDENTIAL AWARDS FOR FILIPINO INDIVIDUALS AND ORGANIZATIONS OVERSEAS (PAFIOO) NOW OPEN


The Philippine Embassy wishes to inform the Filipino Community in South Korea that it is now accepting nominations for the Presidential Awards for Filipino Individuals and Organizations Overseas (PAFIOO) until 31 July 2020 (Philippine time).

The Philippine government confers PAFIOO to honor and recognize overseas Filipinos and other individuals or organizations who contribute to Philippine development initiatives, promote the interests of the Filipino diaspora, or have exceptionally distinguished themselves in their work.

The awards ceremony is scheduled for December 2020.

Since its inception in 1991, the PAFIOO has been bestowed upon 485 Filipino individuals and organizations overseas in about 52 countries and territories. The biennial award highlights the time-honored Filipino values of bayanihan or the convergence of pakikipagkapwa, pagtutulungan, and pagkakaisa.

Nominations are accepted for four (4) award categories:

1. Lingkod sa Kapwa Pilipino (LINKAPIL) Award conferred on Filipino individuals or organizations for their exceptional or significant contribution to progress and development in the Philippines

2. Banaag Award conferred on Filipino individuals or organizations for their contributions that have significantly benefited a sector of the diaspora, or advanced the cause and interest of overseas Filipino communities

3. Pamana ng Pilipino Award conferred on overseas Filipino individuals, who, in exemplifying the talent and industry of the Filipino, have brought the country honor and recognition through excellence and distinction in the pursuit of their work or profession

4. Kaanib ng Bayan Award conferred on foreign individuals (natural-born) and organizations for their exceptional or significant contribution to Philippine progress and development, or in advancing the cause or promoting the interests of overseas Filipino communities

LAUNCH OF FULLY DIGITAL APOSTILLE FOR PSA E-CERTIFICATES AND CHED E-CAVS

The Philippine Embassy in Seoul informs the public of the Official Launch of the Fully Digital Apostille (eApostille) for Philippine Statistics Authority electronic Certificates (PSA eCertificates) and Commission on Higher Education electronic Certification, Authentication, and Verification (CHED eCAVs) at the Department of Foreign Affairs in Manila, Philippines, on 16 March 2026. This initiative is part of the Philippines’ continuing implementation of the electronic Apostille Program (e-APP) of the HCCH aimed at facilitating the secure electronic issuance and verification of Apostilles and promoting the efficient cross-border use of public documents among Contracting Parties to the Apostille Convention.  The following arrangements for the issuance of Apostilles for PSA eCertificates, covering civil registry documents, and CHED eCAVs, covering academic documents, were implemented starting 16 March 2026:

THE PHILIPPINE EMBASSY IN SEOUL PARTICIPATES IN THE OBSERVANCE OF THE 30TH GIRL CHILD WEEK, 22 -28 MARCH 2026

The Philippine Embassy in Seoul joins the celebration on the Protection and Gender-Fair Treatment of the Girl Child Week, or “Girl Child Week” from 22-28 March 2026. In accordance with Proclamation No. 759, March 6, 1996, the fourth week of March is celebrated as “Protection and Gender-Fair Treatment of the Girl Child Week”.  The observance also complements the annual National Women’s Month Celebration every March.
