ANNOUNCEMENT ON CHANGE IN APPLICATION FOR EXTENSION OF STAY FOR DEPARTURE


The Philippine Embassy in Seoul wishes to share with the Filipino community in South Korea the attached announcement dated 01 September 2020 from the Korea Immigration Service (KIS) on changes in the procedure for applying for Extension of Stay under circumstances where departure from the ROK is unfeasible (e.g. frequent flight cancellations, intermittent flights, etc) relative to COVID-19.

Under the new scheme, beginning 01 September, application for Extension of Stay for Departure for both long-term and short-term visitors will be available online through the hikorea website: https://www.hikorea.go.kr/. Local immigration offices, however, would still allow on-site applications from 01 to 08 September. Thereafter, applications shall only be processed online. A maximum of 60 days may be granted for the extension of stay for departure. END
