INVITATION FOR THE VIRTUAL FORUM ON LABOR MOBILITY AND THE GLOBAL COMPACT FOR SAFE, ORDERLY AND REGULAR MIGRATION

The Philippine Embassy in Seoul wishes to invite the Filipino community in South Korea to attend the online forum/webinar entitled "Labor Mobility and Human Rights: Examining Migrant Labor Governance in the Middle East in the Context of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration" on 20 April 2021, Tuesday, 5 pm Korea time.

The webinar seeks to discuss the Global Compact of Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM) - a primary United Nations process to protect all Filipino migrant workers against all forms of exploitation and abuse, and guarantee decent work for them - in relation to the positive developments in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Qatar, respectively, which address the negative effects of the Kafala system. President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and Secretary of Foreign Affairs Teodoro L. Locsin are expected to deliver their messages in the virtual forum.

The virtual forum is organized by the Office of the Undersecretary of Migrant Worker Affairs (OUMWA) and Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Human resources and Social Development in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the University of the Philippines - CIFAL (Centre Internationale de Formation des Autorites et Leaders).
Interested attendees may wish to register via https://bit.ly/virtualforumlabormobility or email oumwa@dfa.gov.ph with their respective names and email addresses to receive the Zoom Webinar link on a first-come first-served basis.
