JOB VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT: ASSISTANCE-TO-NATIONALS (ATN) TRANSLATOR AND INTERPRETER


The Philippine Embassy in Seoul is now accepting applications for the position of Assistance-to-Nationals (ATN) Translator and Interpreter. The detailed job description, required qualifications and skills for the position are enumerated as follows:

TITLE: ATN Translator and Interpreter



JOB DESCRIPTION:

1) Translate written communications from, and translate or draft communications as directed to, local police, immigration and other relevant Korean government and non-government institutions or individuals;
2) Serve as translator/interpreter for the Embassy in conducting or attending fora, meetings or visits to relevant government or non-government institutions on ATN cases and policy matters;
3) Make outgoing calls to, and answer incoming phone inquiries from, Korean public officials or private individuals, as directed;
4) Assist the Embassy's ATN Section in handling specific ATN cases or issues and drafting of reports with recommended policy actions as appropriate, and provide clerical and logistical support, including driving if necessary; and
5) Carry out any other reasonable ad hoc duties, which may be assigned from time to time, to support related functions of the Embassy

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

- Filipino or Korean citizen of good moral character and excellent in translating Korean into English and vice versa
- If Filipino, must have at least TOPIK Level 5 certification (or KIIP equivalent) and a valid Korean working visa
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, preferably with knowledge of Tagalog and other main Philippine languages as an advantage
- Proficient computer or IT skills
- Willing to work overtime
- College degree

REQUIRED SKILLS:

- Working knowledge of Korea's system of government and laws, society and culture
- Aptitude for public or frontline service and ability to empathize with clients of various backgrounds and needs
- Good interpersonal qualities and work ethic to effectively serve within a team, adapt to changes in the working environment and handle high-pressure situations
- Strong organizational skills to work with minimal supervision while coordinating on multiple tasks to ensure that required output is submitted in a timely manner

2) Curriculum Vitae with latest colored photo (2"x2" with white background) and contact details
3) Transcript of Records from colleges and/or universities attended
4) Recommendation letter from former employer or from the last attended academic institution
5) A one-page statement of suitability setting out why you are the suitable person for the position
6) Korean Police Clearance

Deadline for the submission of applications with complete requirements is on or before 15 April 2024.
