JOB VACANCY AT THE PHILIPPINE OVERSEAS LABOR OFFICE (POLO)


The Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) at the Philippine Embassy in Seoul is now accepting applications for the position of Interpreter/ Translator. Following are the primary duties and responsibilities as well as qualifications required for the position:

TITLE: INTERPRETER/ TRANSLATOR

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide interpretation and translation services;
• Facilitate communication for people with limited Korean and/or English proficiency;
• Assist in the verification of employment documents;
• Prepare and file reports related to labor and employment;
• Perform administrative and other duties as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Open to Korean nationals only;
• Must have at least a Bachelor's degree;
• Must have excellent oral and written English;
• Must be proficient in the Korean Language (native speaker)
• Must have experience in administrative work and be computer literate (Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
• Must be willing to work overtime and on weekends occasionally
• Experience in Korean-English interpretation and translation is an advantage
• Preferably between 25-45 years old

PREFERENCE FOR APPLICANTS WITH THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be excellent in Korean to English and vice versa interpretation and translation (written or oral)
• Ability to interpret and translate English into Korean and vice versa
• Must be able to grasp the nuances, idioms, and meaning of written and spoken Korean and English, and to precisely interpret or translate them in English and Korean
• Excellent customer service skills and the ability to respond to a range of customer needs
• Ability to drive a motor vehicle and possesses a valid driver's license is an advantage
• Good interpersonal and communication skills

Special Vocal Workshop with the Nightingales, 22 June 2025 at the 2F Sentro Rizal, Philippine Embassy in Seoul

As part of the activities for Philippine Independence Month, the Philippine Embassy in Seoul in cooperation with the National Commission on Culture and the Arts (NCCA) invites interested individuals to a Special Vocal Workshop to be conducted by the renowned performing duo “The Nightingales” from the Philippines. The Nightingales are composed of Ms. Bernadette Mamauag and Ms. Katrina Marie Saga, who are members of the Philippine Madrigal Singers Company of Artists. The Nightingales have performed extensively in the Philippines and many other parts of the world with a varied repertoire ranging from classical, sacred, Filipino, contemporary and pop, and world music. The duo will be sharing vocal and performance techniques at this activity, further expanding the mission of the Philippine Madrigal Singers of a "Singing Philippines". See you there!
