Due to the recent unprecedented increase in passport applications and other technical concerns, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) is currently experiencing a back log in the processing and releasing of passports.
The DFA is exerting all efforts and is working diligently to resolve this problem. The following measures have been put in place: >Dfa will extend passports of applicants up to one (1) year, free of charge, while waiting for the release of their e-passports. >Effective May 2011, passport processing services will be available until 8:00 PM on weekdays and on Saturdays, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. OFWs and applicants with emergency cases (medical concerns and death in the immediate family) are advised to go to the Passport Director's Office at the ground floor of the OCA-ASEANA Bldg. along Macapagal Ave. for assistance. The DFA advises the public to apply for passports at least twelve (12) weeks before their intended date of travel. The DFA requests the public's understanding, particularly those who applied at our Regional Consular Offices (RCOs), for this situation. The DFA is committed to resolve these problems at the soonest possible time. For additional information, the public may call the Office of Consular Affairs at telephone nos. 737-1000 and 556-0000, send an email to oca@dfa.gov.ph or visit the DFA's website (www.dfa.gov.ph)
