POEA ADVISORY ON ILLEGAL RECRUITMENT BY LANGUAGE TRAINING CENTERS

The Philippine Embassy in Seoul wishes to share with the Filipino Community in South Korea an advisory issued by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), warning the public about a scheme being perpetrated by some language training centers enticing job seekers to enroll with them by promising that they will pass the Test of Proficiency in Korean language (TOPIK) and the skills test, thus securing an employment contract through the Employment Permit System (EPS) program.

The POEA cautions the public that the enticing and promising of employment by language training centers/schools/institutes are considered illegal recruitment. The POEA stressed that it does not accredit, enter into partnership nor is it in any way connected with these centers/schools.

The POEA further encourages the public to be more cautious and immediately report any suspicious offerings or illegal activities, whether committed in person or using the online platform, for the filing of appropriate action. Suspicious or illegal activities must be reported to the POEA Anti-Illegal Recruitment Branch's official Facebook page, e-mail (poea.airb16@gmail.com) or through phone numbers (+632) 722-1189 (Legal Assistance Division) or (+632) 722-1192 (Operation and Surveillance Division).

The POEA further advises the public to visit their official website (www.poea.gov.ph) or call the POEA Information Center at (+632) 722-1145/55 for job openings under the government-to-government program of the POEA.
