The 66th Anniversary of the Philippine Expeditionary Forces to Korea (PEFTOK)

The Philippine Embassy in Seoul wishes to invite all Filipinos to attend the celebration of the 66th Anniversary of the Philippine Expeditionary Forces to Korea (PEFTOK) participation in the Korean War on 11 September 2016 (Sunday), 10:00 a.m. at the War Memorial of Korea in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.

The celebration commemorates the deployment of Philippine troops to South Korea less than three months after the North’s attack on 25 June 1950. The Philippines deployed troops overseas for the first time in history on 19 September 1950, thus becoming the first Asian country and the third United Nation member state (after the United States and Great Britain) out of sixteen to send combat troops to the Korean War.
