TYPHOON ADVISORY


The Philippine Embassy in Seoul wishes to advise the Filipino community in South Korea to take extra precaution and prepare for Typhoon Soulik which is expected to bring heavy rains and strong winds that may cause severe damage to the Korean Peninsula.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA), the medium-sized typhoon with a projected maximum sustained wind speed of 140 km/h and moving at a speed of 12 km/h, is expected to reach Seogwipo, Jeju Island in the morning of 22 August 2018, Wednesday, and It will move up toward Mokpo on 23 August 2018, Thursday morning and cross over the Jeolla, Chungcheong and Gangwon regions before heading northeast toward the sea near Chongjin, North Korea, by 24 August 2018, Friday. It is the first typhoon to hit South Korea in six years. The last typhoon to make landfall in Korea was Sanba in September 2012.

LAUNCH OF FULLY DIGITAL APOSTILLE FOR PSA E-CERTIFICATES AND CHED E-CAVS

The Philippine Embassy in Seoul informs the public of the Official Launch of the Fully Digital Apostille (eApostille) for Philippine Statistics Authority electronic Certificates (PSA eCertificates) and Commission on Higher Education electronic Certification, Authentication, and Verification (CHED eCAVs) at the Department of Foreign Affairs in Manila, Philippines, on 16 March 2026. This initiative is part of the Philippines’ continuing implementation of the electronic Apostille Program (e-APP) of the HCCH aimed at facilitating the secure electronic issuance and verification of Apostilles and promoting the efficient cross-border use of public documents among Contracting Parties to the Apostille Convention.  The following arrangements for the issuance of Apostilles for PSA eCertificates, covering civil registry documents, and CHED eCAVs, covering academic documents, were implemented starting 16 March 2026:

In accordance with Proclamation No. 759, March 6, 1996, the fourth week of March is celebrated as “Protection and Gender-Fair Treatment of the Girl Child Week”.  The observance also complements the annual National Women’s Month Celebration every March.
