UPDATED GUIDELINES ON THE TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF WAIVER OF RE-ENTRY PERMITS FOR LONG-TERM VISA HOLDERS

The Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in Seoul wishes to inform the public of the following updates on the guidelines on the ROK Government�셲 temporary suspension of the Waiver of Re-Entry Permits for long-term visa holders:
1. Eligibility for Medical Examination Exemption Certificate
A registered foreign national who temporarily departs South Korea for less than 3 weeks for the purpose of business, journalism, or academic activities is eligible to be issued a Medical Examination Exemption Certificate by a local Immigration Office before his/her departure. The exemption certificate is valid only if he/she re-enters South Korea within 3 weeks after the departure date.
2. Expanded Scope of Valid Written Medical Diagnosis
In principle, a registered foreign national is required to submit a medical diagnosis that is written either in Korean or English and issued by an authorized medical institution if he/she wishes to re-enter South Korea.
A written medical diagnosis shall be issued not earlier than 48 hours, excluding holidays, prior to the date of departure for South Korea. Under inevitable circumstances, it may be issued within 72 hours prior to the date of departure, excluding holidays.
Under inevitable circumstances, a medical diagnosis written in a language other than English of Korean can be accepted if submitted with a complete English or Korean translation and a Certificate of Translation. Notarization is not required for the translation.
