Christmas Message of Secretary Albert F. Del Rosario, Department of Foreign Affairs

Christmas is a time to pause, reflect, and refocus on the true essentials of life. It is a place we all seek to go back to and recapture childhood's magic and the bounty of everyday miracles.

Christmas allows us to remember - the birth of Christ with its message of love and hope, the journey of Mary and Joseph and its story of humility and sacrifice, the Magi's quest and its lesson in faith and courage.

The Department of Foreign Affairs is one with the entire nation and Filipinos all over the world in celebrating this wondrous occasion.

The passing year rained extraordinary challenges. Succeeding waves of high-impact global events, from the Arab Spring to the economic and debt crisis, and the Philippines' adept response, underscore our resilience as a nation.

In the spirit of genuine public service, the men and women of the Department marched through the storms with dedication, commitment, and fortitude. Looking back, we see how much we have achieved by being true to our duties and responsibilities. Throughout the year, we remained steadfast, hopeful and optimistic with the victories we gained.

To everyone in the Department, each step we take forward is the perfect opportunity to do more, serve better, and reach beyond our grasp.

Together with all Department personnel in the Home Office, Regional Consular Offices, embassies, consulates, and missions abroad, I wish every Filipino peace and prosperity.

May the spirit of Christmas further unite our nation and may our collective faith as a people usher in a brighter future.

ALBERT F. DEL ROSARIO

26 February 2026 - The Philippine Embassy in Seoul turned over a collection of Philippine publications to the National Assembly Library of the Republic of Korea on 26 February 2026  to strengthen knowledge exchange and parliamentary diplomacy. Ambassador Bernadette Therese C. Fernandez presented the books to Chief Librarian (Vice Minister) Hwan Jeong Geun during a meeting at the National Assembly. The donated titles, which include publications from the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Philippine Foreign Service Institute, cover Philippine history, arts, culture, and foreign relations. The National Assembly Library expressed appreciation for the contribution and indicated plans to organize a future exhibition featuring the donated books and Philippine cultural heritage. Ambassador Fernandez underscored the importance of expanding Philippine resources within the National Assembly Library to support informed understanding of the Philippines among Korean legislators and policy researchers. “Informed understanding is the foundation of effective parliamentary dialogue,” the Ambassador said. “By strengthening Philippine resources within the National Assembly Library, we hope to contribute to deeper appreciation of the Philippines’ governance, economic reforms, and vibrant cultural heritage.” Ambassador Fernandez also highlighted that the donation of art books is timely, as the Philippines celebrates national arts month in February. Established in 1952, the National Assembly Library is one of Korea’s premier legislative research institutions, holding more than 8.5 million volumes and over 420 million pages of digital resources that support policy research and parliamentary work.
