DILG SECRETARY REMULLA UNDERTAKES OFFICIAL VISIT TO THE REPUBLIC OF KOREA

SEOUL, 13–14 July 2026 — Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Juanito Victor Remulla Jr. undertook an Official Visit to the Republic of Korea to advance Philippines-ROK cooperation on local governance, public safety, disaster management, emergency response, and law enforcement.

During the visit, Secretary Remulla met with Republic of Korea Minister of the Interior and Safety Yun Ho-jung, who reaffirmed the Philippines as a longstanding strategic partner and emphasized expanding bilateral cooperation following President Lee Jae Myung’s recent State Visit to the Philippines. Both sides underscored the importance of closer institutional collaboration and sustained coordination in addressing transnational crime and other shared security challenges.

The Secretary also met with Korean National Police Agency Acting Commissioner General Yoo Jae-seung and visited the Seoul Metropolitan Police Mobile Headquarters, the National Fire Agency, and Korean technology firm GITSN Inc., where the Philippine delegation examined advanced public safety, policing, and emergency response technologies that may support future capability development initiatives.
