The Philippine Embassy in Seoul reported to the Department that the Department of Tourism-Seoul received two major awards at the 11th Busan International Travel Fair held on 5-8 September 2008, at the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center (BEXCO).

The Best Booth Design Award went to the Philippine Pavilion and the Best Folklore Performance Award at the Travel Fair. This is the third set of awards won by DOT-Seoul this year, after winning major awards at the 6th Korean Tour Expo held in Daegu in April and at the 21st Korean Travel Fair held in Seoul in June. The Philippine booth stood out among the 150 booths representing 200 organizations from 30 countries. The Kalilayan Folkloric Group from Quezon Province further attracted visitors with their daily song and dance performances at the main stage. The Korean travel market has become the Philippines' biggest contributor of visitor arrivals, supplying a total of 322,716 tourists for the first semester of 2008. This figure represents 19.8 percent share of over-all foreign tourist traffic.
