FILIPINO STUDENT WINS BRAVO ASEAN IN KOREA CONTEST 2010


Mr. Jemuel Forto, a Filipino scholar in Korea, was awarded the Gold Prize at the recently concluded Bravo ASEAN in Korea 2010, a music and dance contest for ASEAN residents living in Korea.

The ASEAN-Korea Centre organized the contest in cooperation with the Arirang TV. It was held on 20 November 2010. Twelve teams and individuals from 10 ASEAN countries presented various traditional dances and Korean pop songs during the talent fest.

Mr. Forto, who sang a Korean ballad entitled “Miss You, Miss You, Miss You,” won the hearts of the judges and audience members alike with his soulful rendition of the Korean pop song. He was awarded one million Won (US$ 850), a round trip airfare ticket to the Philippines, and a trophy.

Mr. Forto, an engineering graduate of the Angeles University Foundation in Angeles City is currently pursuing his graduate studies at the Korea Aerospace University under a Korean government scholarship program.

The Bravo ASEAN in Korea Contest is an annual event which promotes fellowship and cultural exchange between the people of ASEAN and Korea.

SEOUL, 12 JUNE 2025 – Philippine Ambassador to the Republic of Korea Theresa Dizon-De Vega led the Philippine Embassy in Seoul in celebrating the 127th anniversary of the declaration of Philippine Independence through a flag raising ceremony in the Embassy rooftop on 12 June 2025. Philippine Government officials in Korea for various bilateral and multilateral engagements, and honor guards of the Armed Forces of the Philippines joined the Embassy personnel in the program.
