FILIPINOS IN JEJU BENEFIT FROM CONSULAR, VOTER REGISTRATION MISSION
JEJU, 25 July 2015 – The Philippine Embassy in South Korea conducted a two-day consular outreach mission starting on 24 July 2015 in Jeju, the capital of Jeju Province and the largest city on the largest island in the Korean Peninsula.
The five-member mobile consular team, led by Third Secretary and Vice Consul Ella Karina Mitra, was assisted by the officers and staff of the Nagkakaisang Pilipino sa Jeju (NAPIL), led by its president, Ms. Maritess Gaddi. The consular mission to Jeju, the Embassy's second this year, also received the assistance of the Jeju Immigrants' Office in offering a venue for the mission.The compact consular team was able to serve over 70 Filipinos for various consular services such as new passport application, passport renewal, reports of birth, NBI clearance application, and application for a legal capacity to contract marriage. The team also processed the registration of 39 new overseas voters.
The Jeju Special Self-Governing Province is one of the South Korea's nine provinces. Situated on and coterminous with the nation's largest island of Jeju, the province is home to 514 Filipinos (as of September 2014).
