25 February 2026, Seoul, Republic of Korea — Philippine Ambassador to the Republic of Korea H.E. Bernadette Therese Fernandez welcomed officials of the Municipality of General Mariano Alvarez (GMA) in Cavite, led by Sangguniang Bayan Member Angela Lenin Paycana, on 25 February 2026.  The GMA officials were in the Republic of Korea on a study visit as part of the Feasibility Study for the Digital Transformation of the Schedule of Market Values (SMV) and Real Property Tax (RPT) Valuation Standards.  The project would support the GMA Municipality in establishing a modern, transparent and reliable RPT system that could be a model for other municipalities and cities in terms of predicting the schedule of fair market values of the properties in their respective jurisdictions.  The project would provide recommendations for improving the current system of property/land valuation in the Philippines.

The GMA Municipality officials were accompanied by their partner in the ROK - officials of U1 Geographic Information System (GIS) Co., Ltd. based in Anyang City, Gyeonggi-do, ROK.  U1GIS Co. Ltd., is an ROK company that uses spatial information in business fields such as mobility and agriculture.  The firm would provide the GIS system that would be used in the pilot feasibility study for GMA Municipality.  The project is being implemented in partnership with PASCO Philippines Corp., a geospatial corporation.

To observe the actual implementation of GIS, the GMA Municipality officials will also visit Seongnam City, Gyeonggi-do, one of the smart cities in the ROK. - END
