HOUSEHOLD WORKERS GROUP IN SEOUL CALLS ON PHL AMBASSADOR


12 February 2015 - The Filipino Household Service Workers Association in Korea (FilHoSWAK) officers and members, led by its president Gloria Lapore, called on Philippine Ambassador to South Korea Raul S. Hernandez at the Embassy Chancery on February 02 to formally introduce to the envoy the year-old organization.

Currently 30-strong, FilHoSWAK was formed in January 2014 to discuss common challenges faced by household service workers (HSW) in South Korea and to develop the members’ skills through the training programs organized by the Philippine Embassy through the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO), such as the quarterly Financial Literacy Program. According to the members, participating in the programs is another way to get connected with the Philippine Embassy and get updated on the programs affecting their welfare and development. In South Korea, Filipino HSWs are principally employed by diplomats and expatriates, who unlike South Koreans are allowed under South Korean immigration regulations to employ their services. END

PHILIPPINE MADRIGAL SINGERS SHOWCASE ARTISTRY IN KOREA PERFORMANCES

07 March 2025 – The world-renowned and multi-awarded Philippine Madrigal Singers showcased their artistry before Korean and international audiences in several performances in Korea from 22-28 February 2025. The group, also known popularly as the MADZ, astounded audiences with their vocal mastery and intricate choral arrangements in various performances in Suwon, Ansan, Pohang, and as a special featured choir at the popular Jeju International Choral Festival.   The MADZ with their diverse repertoire of Filipino, international, spiritual, classical, popular, and ethnic music brought audiences to their feet as their performances received standing ovations from audiences.
