Multicultural Radio Program and Videos for Filipinos in Korea Win Big at the Migration Advocacy and Media Awards 2011


29 November 2011- The Embassy of the Philippines reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs that Woongjin Foundation’s Multicultural Family Broadcasting for Filipinos was chosen as the winner for the Radio Journalism Award, one of the seven categories of the first Migration Advocacy and Media Awards (MAM Awards) by the Commission of Filipinos Overseas.

Meanwhile, the Embassy-produced documentaries entitled “Multicultural Marriages in Korea: A Guide for the Marriage Migrants” and “Personal Financial Management for Overseas Filipinos in Korea,” are both finalists and tied at second place in the Video Documentary Category. The awardees for the first MAM Awards were chosen among 64 official entries from various countries for having raised public awareness on issues on Filipino Migration, advocated the cause of Filipinos overseas, and promoted a positive image of Filipinos overseas, and migration and development.

Ms. Regina Arquiza, Multicultural Family Broadcasting for Filipinos program host, and representatives of Woongjin Foundation will personally receive their award during the awarding ceremonies on 15 December 2011, in Manila.

In a statement following the announcement of winners, Ambassador Luis Cruz said,
“The victory of the Multicultural Family Broadcasting for Filipinos and the two Embassy videos on Filipino marriage migrants and personal financial management in the first ever MAM Awards is a testament that Filipinos in Korea are united in their efforts in promoting the welfare and positive images of the Filipinos in Korea and that this sets as a good example among Filipino migrants in other parts of the world.”

30 October 2025, Busan, Republic of Korea- President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., joined by First Lady Louise Araneta - Marcos, met with over 270 Filipinos in South Korea during a community gathering held alongside the APEC Summit in Gyeongju. PH AMBASSADOR CALLS ON JAPANESE AMBASSADOR IN SEOUL
