PH AMBASSADOR AND ROK DEPUTY MINISTER DISCUSS STRENGTHENING PUBLIC DIPLOMACY, CONSULAR AND LAW ENFORCEMENT COOPERATION

Seoul, 27 April 2026 — Philippine Ambassador to the Republic of Korea Bernadette Therese C. Fernandez met with Deputy Minister for Public Diplomacy and Government Representative for Consular Affairs Lim Sang-Woo at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea on 27 April 2026 to discuss ways to further strengthen cooperation between the Philippines and the Republic of Korea.
The meeting highlighted the importance of sustained dialogue on consular and law enforcement cooperation, as both countries continue to work closely in addressing matters affecting their nationals. Both sides reaffirmed the value of effective coordination, practical cooperation, and regular communication in supporting the safety, welfare, and confidence of Filipino and Korean communities.
The Philippines and the Republic of Korea also exchanged views on public diplomacy initiatives aimed at deepening people-to-people ties, cultural understanding, and mutual goodwill. Both sides noted that public diplomacy remains an important pillar of the PH-ROK strategic partnership, particularly as the two countries continue to advance a partnership anchored in shared values and interests, strong community links, and a longstanding friendship.
