PH AMBASSADOR CALLS ON H.E. ARCHBISHOP GIOVANNI GASPARI APOSTOLIC NUNCIO TO THE REPUBLIC OF KOREA


On 10 February 2026, PH Ambassador Bernadette Therese C. Fernandez paid a courtesy call to His Excellency Archbishop Giovanni Gaspari, the 12th Apostolic Nuncio to the Republic of Korea. Bottom photo: Behind the Ambassador and Archbishop Gaspari is an image of St. Andrew Kim Taegon (1821–1846), the first Korean-born Catholic priest and patron saint of Korea. St. Andrew Kim studied in the Philippines for about six months during his seminary training in the 19th century. He sought refuge in Lolomboy, Bocaue, Bulacan, to escape persecution in Korea.

10 February 2026, Seoul. Ambassador Bernadette Therese C. Fernandez paid a courtesy call to His Excellency Archbishop Giovanni Gaspari, the 12th Apostolic Nuncio to the Republic of Korea.

Ambassador Fernandez conveyed the support of the Embassy of the Philippines to the Nuncio, especially with regard to preparations of the Nunciature for the visit of Pope Leo XIV to Seoul in August of 2027, on the occasion of the World Youth Day. 

As the envoy of the Holy See and Pope Leo XIV, Archbishop Gaspari offered prayers and blessings to all Filipinos in the Republic of Korea. END

PH EMBASSY HIGHLIGHTS STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP, VALUE OF DIPLOMACY AT KNDA ANNUAL PANEL

25 March 2026, Seoul - The Philippine Embassy in Seoul participated in the Annual Diplomatic Panel of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy (KNDA) on 25 March 2026 at the DiploTown Building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea.  The program gathered forty (40) diplomatic candidates of the KNDA and five (5) working-level diplomats from the Embassies of the Philippines, Guatemala, the United Kingdom, Türkiye, and Brazil.  The KNDA panel convenes representatives of diplomatic missions in Seoul for an exchange on the practice of diplomacy and present the significance of their respective countries’ relations with the Republic of Korea to the newest cohort of Korean diplomats.

30 March 2026, Seoul – The Philippine Embassy in Seoul hosted a roundtable on cyber diplomacy, gender-inclusive artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity on 30 March 2026, bringing together female Heads of Mission in the Republic of Korea, diplomats, and invited stakeholders from government, academe, business, and civil society. The roundtable served as a platform for discussing cybersecurity, digital governance, artificial intelligence, and the continuing need to narrow the gender gap in the digital sphere.
