PH AMBASSADOR RECEIVES ROK CANDIDATE TO THE INTERNATIONAL COURT OF JUSTICE, JUDGE JIN HYUN PAIK

Ambassador-designate Bernadette Therese C. Fernandez received Judge Jin Hyun Paik, the Republic of Korea’s candidate to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for the 2027–2036 term, during a courtesy call at the Philippine Embassy in Seoul. She was joined by Third Secretary Reisha Olavario and Ms. Vivienne Velasquez of the Political Section while Judge Paik was joined by Second Secretary Oh Hye Bin of the ROK MOFA.

SEOUL, 6 November 2025 — Ambassador-designate Bernadette Therese C. Fernandez received Judge Jin Hyun Paik, the Republic of Korea’s candidate to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for the 2027–2036 term, during a courtesy call at the Philippine Embassy in Seoul.

The meeting highlighted the Philippines and the Republic of Korea’s shared commitment to upholding the rule of law, promoting maritime cooperation, and strengthening collaboration in multilateral and international legal fora. Judge Paik reiterated his dedication to the peaceful settlement of disputes and acknowledged his longstanding engagement with Philippine legal institutions. Ambassador-designate Fernandez, for her part, underscored the enduring partnership between the Philippines and the Republic of Korea, anchored on mutual respect, democratic values, and a shared advocacy for a rules-based international order.
