PH CHILDREN'S BOOKS FEATURED IN KOREA FOUNDATION EXHIBIT IN SEOUL

Philippine Ambassador to Korea Raul S. Hernandez shows off both the English and Korean version of the well-loved Philippine folk tale “Bahay Kubo,� which is among the eight Philippine books displayed at the “Encounter the World through Children’s Books� Exhibition at the Korea Foundation Gallery during the opening ceremony on 26 April 2016.
SEOUL, 4 May 2016 - To mark its 25th anniversary, the Korea Foundation recently opened a seven-and-a-half week special exhibition of international children's books that features Philippine books donated by the Philippine Embassy's Cultural Section, in cooperation with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA).
The exhibition, entitled "Encounter the World through Children's Books," runs from 27 April to 18 June 2016 at the Korea Foundation Gallery in central Seoul and features 400 children books in 28 languages, with Korean translations, contributed by 44 Seoul-based diplomatic missions.Dr. Jose Rizal's "The Monkey and the Turtle", "Ibong Adarna" and a book illustration of Philippine folk tale "Bahay Kubo" are among the eight Philippine books sent by the NCCA through the Department of Foreign Affairs.
"I wish to congratulate the Korea Foundation for organizing this exhibit, which is expected to bring much delight to young readers who will have a meaningful opportunity to be exposed to a broad spectrum of visual arts of diverse world cultures", said Philippine Ambassador to Korea Raul S. Hernandez at the opening ceremony on 26 April 2016.
The members of the Seoul Parent and Children's Organization led by Ms. Venus Avelino Lee and their children were also present during the event.
Throughout the exhibition period, the Korea Foundation has also organized a "Book Reading for Children" Session, to be participated by foreign Ambassador or spouse which will compose of elementary school children. The Philippine Ambassador is slated to participate in this event on 26 May 2016.
