PH EMBASSY AND ROK MOFA DISCUSS CLOSER CONSULAR COOPERATION


Charge d’Affaires, a.i. Edwin Gil Q. Mendoza met with Bureau of Consular Affairs Service Director General Yoon Chu Sok of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea on 26 August 2025.

26 August 2025, Seoul - Charge d’Affaires, a.i. Edwin Gil Q. Mendoza met with Bureau of Consular Affairs Service Director General Yoon Chu Sok of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea on 26 August 2025. CDA Mendoza looked forward to in-depth discussions on consular cooperation and policy issues related to the rights and welfare of their nationals, visa and immigration procedures, labor rights protection, and people-to-people exchanges using established consultative mechanisms in the near future. 

Both sides also underscored the importance of protecting their nationals, recalling the recent telephone conversation between Philippine President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and  ROK President Lee Jae Myung, during which the welfare of overseas workers and the safety and protection of nationals were discussed at the highest level. Director General Yoon acknowledged the efforts of the Philippine government to ensure the safety of the Korean community and tourists, including the establishment of eight (8) Korean desks within local police stations in the hubs of Manila, Angeles, Olongapo, Tarlac, and Cebu to assist Korean nationals with crimes and emergencies. The two sides also reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening cooperation to ensure the safety and well-being of their peoples. END

PH AMBASSADOR MEETS GREEN CLIMATE FUND OFFICIALS IN SONGDO

19 March 2026, Songdo - Philippine Ambassador to the Republic of Korea Bernadette Therese C. Fernandez met with senior officials of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) led by Mr. Hemant Mandal, Director of the Asia and the Pacific Region, at their headquarters in Songdo, Incheon for cordial exchange on the Philippines’ cooperation with the Fund and shared efforts to advance climate resilience and sustainable development. Prior to the meeting, Ambassador Fernandez also met with Filipino professionals working in the GCF. The Philippine Embassy in Korea is proud to note that Filipinos serving in the GCF continue to make valuable contributions across the institution. Widely recognized for their professionalism, technical expertise, dedication, and collegiality, Filipino professionals have helped support the Fund’s work in meaningful ways and remain a source of pride for the Filipino community in the Republic of Korea. Their strong presence in the GCF reflects the high regard for Filipino talent in international organizations and the important role they play in advancing global climate and development initiatives.
