PHILIPPINE AMBASSADOR MEETS FILIPINOS IN SEONGNAM CITY, ANSAN CITY AND PYEONGTAEK CITY


Ambassador Bernadette Therese C. Fernandez met with Filipinos in Seongnam City during the 15th Global Harmony Festival in celebration of Seongnam City’s Together Day on 10 May 2026

GYEONGGI PROVINCE, May 2026 - Philippine Ambassador to the Republic of Korea Bernadette Therese C. Fernandez visited the cities of Seongnam, Ansan, and Pyeongtaek of Gyeonggi Province in May to meet members of the Filipino community participating in the cities’ multicultural festivals.

The festivals brought together migrant communities in celebration of cultural diversity, inclusion, and community solidarity. Ambassador Fernandez commended the Filipino community for their excellent cultural performances, which showcased Filipino talent, creativity, and resilience. She also encouraged them to continue promoting Philippine heritage, especially among younger generations of Filipinos in Korea.

In her remarks, Ambassador Fernandez conveyed the Embassy’s appreciation to the city governments of Seongnam, Ansan, and Pyeongtaek for their continued support to Filipino residents and for their efforts to promote the safety, welfare, and inclusion of multicultural families and migrant communities.

During the visits, Ambassador Fernandez met with Seongnam immediate past Mayor Shin Sang-jin, Ansan Acting Mayor Heo Nam-sok, and Pyeongtaek Mayor Jeong Jang-seon. She was accompanied in Pyeongtaek by Labor Attaché Atty. Rosemarie Duquez.

The Philippine Embassy also expressed appreciation to Filipino interpreters and community coordinators Ms. Sierra Corpuz, Ms. Marife Casimina, and Ms. Rowena Han for their valuable contribution to the multicultural and family centers of Seongnam, Ansan, and Pyeongtaek, and for their continuing support to the Filipino community in the Republic of Korea.
