Philippine Discovery Box at the National Folk Museum of Korea
The Embassy of the Philippines and the National Folk Museum of Korea Children’s Museum unveiled to the Korean public the Philippine Discovery Box at a launching ceremony on 20 September 2011.
The Philippine Discovery Box is a brainchild of the Museum and the Embassy of the Philippines which aims to develop a number of mobile museums on Philippine Culture.The discovery box contains materials on Philippine history, traditions, festivals, cuisine, costumes, songs, dances, architecture, lifestyle and contemporary pop culture. The discovery box also features picture books and animation of Filipino folk tales and various music videos of Filipino children’s songs and dances which were performed and recorded by Filipino students.
The Discovery boxes will be made available on loan to Korean schools, multi-cultural institutions, and libraries conducting Philippine culture classes and workshops.
The Embassy of the Philippines supports Korea’s drive to become a multicultural society. With the continuous cooperation from the Korean government, and such is the case of the Children’s Museum of the National Folk Museum, the Embassy is able to provide a window on the Philippine culture to children and all Korean people.
