PHILIPPINE EMBASSY CONDUCTS SPECIAL FORUM ON DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND DIGITAL SAFE SPACES FOR FILIPINO COMMUNITY IN KOREA

02 May 2023, Seoul - The Embassy of the Philippines in Korea, in collaboration with the Itaewon Village Global Center, organized a gender and development special online forum on domestic violence and digital safe spaces on 23 April 2023. In her remarks, Philippine Ambassador to the Republic of Korea H.E. Theresa Dizon-De Vega stated that "In the midst of forward movements, there remains pressing concerns to the safety of women and girls in the workplace, at home, and in the digital world." She likewise encouraged collaborative individual, community, and governmental action to build safe spaces for women and girls, including in the digital sphere.

The seminar provided up-to-date information on domestic violence laws in Korea, it likewise shared information in identifying technology facilitated abuse (including through stalking, illegally recorded conversations, and harassment) and understanding it within the lens of gender-based violence as shared by resource speaker Attorney Jung Lan Kim.

Members of the Filipino community were also encouraged to reach out to the Philippine Embassy's legal and assistance-to-nationals team in the event that they face challenges of gender-based violence in the workplace, at home, or online.

This seminar was conducted with the help of Itaewon Global Village Center and its Director, Ms. Katherine Corteza. The Embassy of the Philippines in the Republic of Korea continues to conduct informational sessions to protect and inform overseas Filipinos on relevant laws and regulations both in the Philippines and Korea. 25 February 2026, Chungcheonbuk-do, Republic of Korea. The Philippine Embassy in Seoul extends its warmest congratulations to Cadet 1CL Euniño Joaquin F. Manuel on the completion of his cadetship at the Republic of Korea Air Force Academy (ROKAFA) during its 74th Graduation Ceremony held at the parade grounds in Chungcheongbuk-do, Republic of Korea. Cadet Manuel graduated with a Bachelor of Military Arts and Science, major in Mechanical Engineering, continuing the strong tradition of Philippine cadets at ROKAFA being consistently recognized for their solid academic and military performance, professionalism, and discipline.

GMA Municipality Officials Call on PH Ambassador

25 February 2026, Seoul, Republic of Korea — Philippine Ambassador to the Republic of Korea H.E. Bernadette Therese Fernandez welcomed officials of the Municipality of General Mariano Alvarez (GMA) in Cavite, led by Sangguniang Bayan Member Angela Lenin Paycana, on 25 February 2026.  The GMA officials were in the Republic of Korea on a study visit as part of the Feasibility Study for the Digital Transformation of the Schedule of Market Values (SMV) and Real Property Tax (RPT) Valuation Standards.  The project would support the GMA Municipality in establishing a modern, transparent and reliable RPT system that could be a model for other municipalities and cities in terms of predicting the schedule of fair market values of the properties in their respective jurisdictions.  The project would provide recommendations for improving the current system of property/land valuation in the Philippines.
