Seoul, 12 July 2026 – The Philippine Embassy in Seoul, through the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) South Korea, in cooperation with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), successfully conducted the Livelihood Skills Training Program on "Beyond Human: The Rise and Power of Generative AI" on 12 July 2026 at the Sentro Rizal Hall, Philippine Embassy in Seoul. The training was participated in by more than fifty (50) overseas Filipinos and OFWs based in ROK.
In her remarks, Ambassador Bernadette Therese C. Fernandez reaffirmed the Embassy's commitment to supporting initiatives that promote the professional growth, digital empowerment, and overall welfare of Filipinos in ROK through meaningful partnerships with government agencies such as OWWA and TESDA. She encouraged participants to continuously upgrade their skills and remain adaptable as technology reshapes industries and workplaces, while exercising responsible and ethical use of Generative AI.
Labor Attaché Rosemarie G. Duquez reminded participants to protect their personal information and remain vigilant against AI-generated misinformation, emphasizing that while AI is a powerful tool, human wisdom and empathy remain irreplaceable.
Ms. Charmaine P. Fider, TVET Trainer, TESDA NCR, PMDTAC, facilitated the seminar and presented on the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence and Generative AI. Participants actively engaged in live demonstrations of widely used AI platforms, practical exercises on prompt engineering, discussions on AI ethics and data privacy, and hands-on activities designed specifically for the needs of OFWs living and working in ROK. The training followed a competency-based, TVET-aligned approach to ensure participants acquire practical skills applicable to their work and future livelihood opportunities.
On behalf of Welfare Officer Cornelia DG. Chanco, Officer-in-Charge/Administrative Staff Jaylord M. Caronan conveyed appreciation to TESDA for facilitating the training and highlighted that the MWO and OWWA remains committed to provide services and pursue initiatives that will support the reintegration and enhance the entrepreneurial skills of overseas Filipinos, in line with OWWA’s 10-Point Agenda.
