PHILIPPINE EMBASSY PARTICIPATES IN THE 2026 NATIONWIDE CIVIL DEFENSE DRILL OF THE REPUBLIC OF KOREA
Officials and personnel of the Philippine Embassy gathered at the lobby of the Embassy for a briefing prior to the start of the Nationwide Civil Defense Drill.
SEOUL, 20 August 2026 — The Philippine Embassy in Seoul participated in the Republic of Korea’s 2026 Nationwide Civil Defense Drill held on 20 August 2026, as part of the four-day Ulchi civil defense exercise.
Embassy officials and personnel conducted evacuation exercises at Noksapyeong Station and the Grand Hyatt Seoul, the two designated shelters nearest the Embassy. Civil defense shelters in Korea include subway stations, underground shopping malls, and underground parking facilities.
“Preparedness begins with knowing what to do and where to go. We must familiarize ourselves with the emergency resources available and to remain informed through official channels,” Philippine Ambassador Bernadette Therese C. Fernandez said.
The Embassy encourages the Filipino Community in the Republic of Korea to download the Emergency Ready App, which provides emergency alerts, safety guidelines, civil defense drill information, and nearby shelter locations in 22 languages.
Knowing the nearest designated shelter and keeping informed through official channels are simple ways to stay prepared during emergencies. END
