Philippine Embassy Receives Plaque of Appreciation
25 June 2010 – Philippine Ambassador to Seoul, Luis T. Cruz reported to the Department that the Philippine Embassy received today a plaque of appreciation from South Korean President Lee Myung Bak, on the occasion of the 60th Anniversary of the outbreak of the Korean War.
The plaque, which was presented to Ambassador Cruz during a simple ceremony at the Olympic Stadium Seoul, recognizes the role and contributions of the Philippines at the Korean War. Similar plaques were also given to the other members of the United Nations Command (UNC).The UNC is composed of 16 allied countries that sent combat troops to South Korea in the early 50’s during the Korean War. They are Australia, Belgium, Canada, Colombia, Ethiopia, France, Greece, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Philippines, South Africa, Thailand, Turkey, United Kingdom, and the United States.
