PHILIPPINE EMBASSY WELCOMES LOCAL GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS TO SEOUL


Ambassador Bernadette Therese C. Fernandez and Seoul PE officials welcomed LGU delegation from Quezon City, Legazpi City, Masbate, Occidental Mindoro, Siquijor, Tarlac, Surigao Del Norte and Zamboanga Del Norte at the Sentro Rizal Hall of the Philippine Embassy on 16 July 2026.

Seoul, 16 July 2026. The Philippine Embassy in Seoul led by Ambassador Bernadette Therese C. Fernandez received the courtesy visit of a 60-member delegation composed of LGU officials including chief executives, local legislators and department heads from Quezon City, Legazpi City, Masbate, Occidental Mindoro, Siquijor, Tarlac, Surigao Del Norte and Zamboanga Del Norte at the Sentro Rizal Hall of the Philippine Embassy. Ambassador was joined by Deputy Head of Mission and Consul General Edwin Gil Q. Mendoza, PTIC-Seoul Commercial Counsellor Ms. Charmaine Mignon Yalong and MWO-Korea Labor Attaché Atty. Rosemarie Duquez.

In her welcome remarks, the Ambassador underscored the importance of harnessing PH-ROK relations and encouraged the LGU delegation to benchmark best practices in the agriculture sector as well as to take advantage of our strong agriculture cooperation with the ROK.

Labor Attaché Atty. Duquez shared an overview of PH labor cooperation with ROK, as well as labor-related services and programs for Filipinos in Korea. Commercial Counsellor Yalong also presented on PH-ROK economic cooperation and trade opportunities under the PH-ROK Free Trade Agreement.

 On behalf of the LGU delegation, Mayor Roselyn Asok of Maira, Siquijor, Mayor Arvin Virtucio of Aroroy, Masbate, and Vice Mayor Edwin Mintu of Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro expressed appreciation to the Philippine Embassy for the insightful meeting. While in ROK, the LGU delegation participated in the Agri & Food Tech Start-up Rising Expo 2026 held at COEX, Seoul. END
