PHILIPPINES ADVANCES REGIONAL COOPERATION AT APEC ENERGY MINISTERIAL IN BUSAN


The Philippine delegation to the 15th APEC Energy Ministerial Meeting, led by Undersecretary Rowena Cristina Guevarra. The EMM15 was held in Busan, Republic of Korea. Post’s Political and Economic Section, Third Secretary and Vice Consul Reisha Olavario and Economic Assistant Ms. Charmie B. Fugaban, joined the DOE delegation.

Busan, Korea – The Philippine Embassy in Seoul joined the Department of Energy delegation led by Undersecretary Rowena Cristina L. Guevara at the 15th APEC Energy Ministerial Meeting (EMM15) from 27-28 August 2025, where she reaffirmed the Philippines’ commitment to work with APEC partners in advancing clean energy, modernizing infrastructure, and building resilient systems for a sustainable and inclusive Asia-Pacific future. 

As part of her intervention, Undersecretary Guevara emphasized the Philippine vision of a connected, resilient, and sustainable Asia-Pacific region built through collaboration and common goals. She also said that the Philippines stands ready to work hand in hand with APEC economies to build a future where opportunity thrives, innovation flourishes, and sustainability defines the path forward.  The Philippine delegation also participated in the Clean Energy Ministerial Meeting (CEMM), and other side events such as the Powering the Asia Pacific: US-ROK Nuclear Solutions roundtable, underscoring the country’s support for innovation and collaboration in clean and nuclear energy development. The Philippine delegation also engaged in bilateral meetings with counterparts to advance cooperation on energy security, renewable energy, and market transparency.

The Philippine Embassy in Seoul continues to support high-level meetings and activities that underscore the Philippines’ readiness to contribute to regional and global energy transition efforts through bold policies, the participation of our young and dynamic workforce, and strengthened international partnerships. PH EMBASSY DONATES PHILIPPINE PUBLICATIONS TO NATIONAL ASSEMBLY LIBRARY OF KOREA

26 February 2026 - The Philippine Embassy in Seoul turned over a collection of Philippine publications to the National Assembly Library of the Republic of Korea on 26 February 2026  to strengthen knowledge exchange and parliamentary diplomacy. Ambassador Bernadette Therese C. Fernandez presented the books to Chief Librarian (Vice Minister) Hwan Jeong Geun during a meeting at the National Assembly. The donated titles, which include publications from the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Philippine Foreign Service Institute, cover Philippine history, arts, culture, and foreign relations. The National Assembly Library expressed appreciation for the contribution and indicated plans to organize a future exhibition featuring the donated books and Philippine cultural heritage. Ambassador Fernandez underscored the importance of expanding Philippine resources within the National Assembly Library to support informed understanding of the Philippines among Korean legislators and policy researchers. “Informed understanding is the foundation of effective parliamentary dialogue,” the Ambassador said. “By strengthening Philippine resources within the National Assembly Library, we hope to contribute to deeper appreciation of the Philippines’ governance, economic reforms, and vibrant cultural heritage.” Ambassador Fernandez also highlighted that the donation of art books is timely, as the Philippines celebrates national arts month in February. Established in 1952, the National Assembly Library is one of Korea’s premier legislative research institutions, holding more than 8.5 million volumes and over 420 million pages of digital resources that support policy research and parliamentary work.
