PHILIPPINES AWARDED TWO PRIZES AT KOREAN TRAVEL FAIR


SEOUL, 4 June 2013 – The Davao City-based Kalumon Performing Ensemble fronts for the Philippine sales mission to the 26th Korean World Travel Fair recently held at the COEX Korea Exhibition Center from 30 May until 2 June 2013. The DOT-led delegation is positioning Davao as the next happening destination for the record number of Korean tourists visiting the Philippines.

SEOUL, 5 June 2013 – The Embassy reported to the Department that Post’s Tourism office received two prizes at the recently concluded 26th Korea World Travel Fair (KOTFA).

Davao is the thrust of this year’s Philippine Cultural and Food Festival that opened at the Millennium Hilton Hotel in Seoul and will conclude on the 30th of June 2013. The Kalumon Performing Ensemble will be featured daily during lunch and dinner at the Hilton’s Orangerie Restaurant until 15 June 2013. Mindanao’s cuisine is featured by none other than Chefs Rosauro del Rosario and Redd Agustin. Chef del Rosario was trained in Nice by one star Michelin chef Christian Plumail. Koreans make up the third biggest foreign arrivals in the Davao Region, with 7,983 tourists. DOT Korea is positioning Davao for this leading source of inbound tourists, which reached a record 1 million arrivals for the entire Philippines in 2012.

9 June 2025, Seoul, South Korea - The Philippines and the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) signed a Funding Agreement, reaffirming their shared commitment to advancing green growth. The Funding Agreement was signed by H.E. Maria Theresa B. Dizon-De Vega, Ambassador of the Philippines to the Republic of Korea, and GGGI Director-General, Sang-Hyup Kim.
