Philippines, Korea 60th Anniversary taking shape

During a courtesy call last week to Herald Media publisher Park Haeng-hwan, Philippines Ambassador Luis Cruz announced that plans for the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations are well on their way.

One of the highlights of the milestone will be a coffee-table book depicting Koreans enjoying the sun and fun of the Philippines and Filipinos contributing to Korean society and economy.
Cruz said that he plans to send Korean photographers to the Philippines to click away, and at the same time have Filipino photographers come to Korea.
"I'm glad that the event will be reciprocated by the Korean government. The Foreign Ministry has earmarked a budget to celebrate the anniversary in Manila," Cruz said.
The ambassador is looking to have celebrations all over Korea, not just the capital. He is in talks with the Ansan city government to hold a special celebration in conjunction with their yearly International Street Arts Festival.
The same idea will be proposed in Incheon and Busan, where the honorary consul is located.
"We want to equal what the Korean ambassador will be doing in Manila," he said jokingly. From The Korea Herald, 12 May 2008
