PHILIPPINES PARTICIPATES IN 2025 GYEONGGI WOMEN’S INTERNATIONAL FORUM

04 January 2026, Seoul. Philippine Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, H.E. Bernadette Therese C. Fernandez attended the 2025 Gyeonggi Women’s International Forum, underscoring the Philippines’ strong commitment to women’s empowerment, human rights, and peace-building. 

Held on 02 December 2025 at the Ramada Hotel in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province. Ambassador Fernandez received a warm welcome from Mr. Kim Seongjung, First Vice Governor for Administrative Affairs of Gyeonggi Province and Madame Jung Wooyoung, spouse of Gyeonggi Governor Kim Dong-yeon. 

Vice Governor Kim thanked the Philippines for the support provided to women empowerment in Gyeonggi Province and to the Republic of Korea. He also conveyed that the Republic of Korea is learning a great deal from external communities in the promotion and protection of gender equality within the country. 

Under the theme “Gyeonggi Women, Bridging the World – Women, Human Rights, and Peace Economy”, the forum featured international advocates for the promotion of women’s rights to deliver keynote speeches namely, Professor Rangita de Silva de Alwis, Co-Chair, WPS on the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), Ms. Monica Williams, Peace Activist and Professor Emeritus Ulster University and Ms. Moon A-young, Executive Director at Peace MOMO. The forum served to advance discussions on positioning Gyeonggi Province as a key actor in localizing the peace and security agenda through a gender perspective and a Gyeonggi peace economy shaped by women.  END

CPR TRAINING PROGRAM FOR OFWS & OVERSEAS FILIPINOS IN SOUTH KOREA

8 February 2026, Seoul - The Philippine Embassy in Seoul, through the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) South Korea, successfully conducted a Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and Overseas Filipinos (OFs) on February 8, 2026, at the 2nd Floor, Sentro Rizal Hall, Philippine Embassy.  A total of sixty-four (64) participants actively took part in the life-saving skills training.

PHILIPPINES, PARAGUAY AFFIRM COMMITMENT TO DEEPEN BILATERAL AND MULTILATERAL COOPERATION

Seoul, Republic of Korea – Philippine Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, H.E. Bernadette Therese C. Fernandez called on Non-Resident Ambassador of the Republic of Paraguay to the Philippines H.E. Miguel Angel Ubaldino Romero Alvarez on 28 January 2026 at the Paraguay Embassy in Seoul to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in regional and multilateral fora. During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on enhancing political dialogue, economic engagement, and people-to-people ties. The discussion highlighted Paraguay’s role as current President of MERCOSUR and growing opportunities for collaboration with ASEAN, including prospects for trade cooperation, sustainability initiatives, and carbon market mechanisms. A shared commitment to a rules-based international order, peaceful settlement of disputes, and respect for international law was likewise underscored.
