PHILIPPINES REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TOWARDS SECURE, INCLUSIVE HUMAN CENTERED DIGITAL FUTURE

Seoul, 30 September 2026 – Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Undersecretary Atty. Sarah Maria Q. Sison led the Philippine participation in the 12th Global ICT Leadership Forum: Actionable AX Partnerships for Global Digital Shared Prosperity, highlighting the Philippine government’s digital transformation initiatives and cooperation opportunities with the Republic of Korea and regional partners.
The Philippines is advancing AI in government through key initiatives such as the establishment of government cyber alliance, signing of joint memorandum circular with the Philippine Civil Service Commission on principles and guidelines for an ethical and trustworthy use of AI in government, rolling of generative AI tools to government personnel, launching of the Philippines AI+Infrastructure Masterplan (PAIIM) 2026-2033 and eGovPH ecosystem.
Through the PAIIM, the Philippines aims to grow its AI infrastructure thirty folds from 50 MW to about 1.5 GW by 2033 backed by USD 34.4 billion public and private investment. She also shared an actionable AI transformation partnership with the ROK in key priority areas, such as public-sector AI adoption, AI compute and data centers, digital twins for resilience, and talent and trusted AI.
Undersecretary Sison also stated that as ASEAN Chair for 2026, the Philippines stands ready to extend these partnerships across the region and remains committed to working with ROK toward a secure, inclusive and human centered digital future.
At the opening session, ROK MSIT Vice Minister Ryu Je Myung also highlighted ROK’s ICT-driven economic growth and digital innovation-led national resilience and sustainability, and reaffirmed ROK’s support to international cooperation on AI transformation. Session 1 featured presentations from NIA and K-Water on strategies for Public-Sector AI adoption while session 2 focused on private sector best practices from Korean AI industry stakeholders and Korea’s public-private partnership cooperation strategies.
Hosted by the ROK Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) and organized by the ROK National Information Agency Society (NIA), the forum served as a platform to discuss practical cooperation in an era of deepening digital transformation and participated in by high level officials from Vietnam, Kyrgyzstan, Bhutan, Uzbekistan, Lao PDR, Philippines, Egypt and Panama.
