S. Korea donates more for typhoon victims


South Korea has donated an additional $250,000 in cash and relief goods for victims of tropical storm “Ondoy” and typhoon “Pepeng,” raising its total donations to $600,000.

The Korean National Red Cross donated cash contributions equivalent to approximately $50,000 to the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) while the Yoido Full Gospel Church, led by Senior Reverend Lee Young-Hoon, through Korean NGO “Good People,” also donated emergency relief goods worth $200,000. “Good People” conducts international development assistance activities. The Korean government donated emergency relief goods worth $300,000 on September 29. The relief goods include rice from the Korea-Philippines Rice Processing Center in Aurora Province, medical supplies, sleeping mats, blankets and tents from Korea. Korean Ambassador Choi Joong-Kyung handed over the emergency relief goods to Social Welfare Secretary Esperanza Cabral on October 5. The Korea International Cooperation Agency (Koica), in cooperation with the Department of Social Welfare and Development, is distributing the relief goods to victims in the National Capital Region and Northern Luzon. CPR TRAINING PROGRAM FOR OFWS & OVERSEAS FILIPINOS IN SOUTH KOREA

8 February 2026, Seoul - The Philippine Embassy in Seoul, through the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) South Korea, successfully conducted a Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and Overseas Filipinos (OFs) on February 8, 2026, at the 2nd Floor, Sentro Rizal Hall, Philippine Embassy.  A total of sixty-four (64) participants actively took part in the life-saving skills training.

PHILIPPINES, PARAGUAY AFFIRM COMMITMENT TO DEEPEN BILATERAL AND MULTILATERAL COOPERATION

Seoul, Republic of Korea – Philippine Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, H.E. Bernadette Therese C. Fernandez called on Non-Resident Ambassador of the Republic of Paraguay to the Philippines H.E. Miguel Angel Ubaldino Romero Alvarez on 28 January 2026 at the Paraguay Embassy in Seoul to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in regional and multilateral fora. During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on enhancing political dialogue, economic engagement, and people-to-people ties. The discussion highlighted Paraguay’s role as current President of MERCOSUR and growing opportunities for collaboration with ASEAN, including prospects for trade cooperation, sustainability initiatives, and carbon market mechanisms. A shared commitment to a rules-based international order, peaceful settlement of disputes, and respect for international law was likewise underscored.
