12 April 2026, Chungju City - Seoul PE officials attended the Opening Ceremony of the Filipino Community Basketball League held at the Suanbo Multi-Purpose Gymnasium in Chungju City, North Chungcheong Province.    The basketball tournament, organized by the Pinoy Sarang-Chungju under the leadership of its founder Ms. Majella Pagayon, aimed to promote camaraderie and unity through sports among the Overseas Filipinos in Chungju and nearby areas.  Six teams of Filipino basketball players participated in the event.

Deputy Head of Mission and Consul General Edwin Gil Mendoza, in his remarks, expressed gratitude to the Filipino Community in Chungju for organizing the sports event and congratulated the six teams for participating in the basketball tournament.  He also reminded the players to continue displaying great sportsmanship during their games. DHM/CG Mendoza also led the ceremonial Ball Toss at the Opening Ceremony of the Filipino Community Basketball League.  The first game was played between the Silent Deadly Team and the Geumwang Hoopers. -END
