SEOUL PE'S KNOW YOUR RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES SEMINAR PART 1


Resource Speaker Ambassador Ma. Theresa B. Dizon- De Vega with some members of the Filipino Community in Korea who joined the Embassy's first ever Know Your Rights and Responsibilities Seminar on 30 January 2022.

SEOUL, 4 February 2022 - The Philippine Embassy in Seoul hosted the first of its Know Your Rights and Responsibilities (KYRR) Seminar Series on 30 January 2022. A recurring project in 2022, the KYYR Series is being launched this year as a platform for overseas Filipinos in Korea to learn more about their rights and responsibilities under both Philippine and Korean laws and regulations. Future sessions will cover other topics such as property matters in the Philippines, land titling, relevant Korean laws, and important procedures and processes for Filipinos currently living in Korea.

With the theme "Family Matters: An Introduction to Philippine Family Law for Overseas Filipinos", Ambassador Ma. Theresa B. Dizon-De Vega, as the seminar's first resource speaker, gave a presentation on some basic concepts under Philippine Family Law and discussed common legal concerns faced by Filipinos overseas pertaining to marriage, legal separation, rights and obligations of spouses, annulment, and recognition of foreign-obtained divorce. The two-hour seminar attended by around eighty (80) members of the Filipino community in Korea included a question and answer portion, where the Ambassador responded to queries from the participants. PHILIPPINE EMBASSY AND MWO-OWWA HOSTS 3RD “KUMUSTAHAN WITH EPS CAREGIVERS” AND MEET & GREET WITH THE AMBASSADOR

28 September 2025, Seoul – On September 28, 2025, the Migrant Workers Office - Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (MWO-OWWA), led by Ambassador-designate Bernadette Therese C. Fernandez, conducted the 3rd "Kumustahan with EPS Caregivers" and Meet and Greet with the New Ambassador. The Ambassador-designate welcomed the caregivers and expressed her gratitude for their hard work and dedication. Ambassador-designate Fernandez highlighted the success of the pilot project and cited the satisfaction of both employers and caregivers with the services provided by Filipino workers. She also acknowledged the initial challenges faced by caregivers but noted that these issues were promptly addressed through collaboration between the Philippine government and the Korean Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL).

PHILIPPINE EMBASSY RECEIVES COURTESY VISIT OF THE UNION OF LOCAL AUTHORITIES OF THE PHILIPPINES (ULAP)

Seoul, Republic of Korea – The Philippine Embassy in Seoul led by Ambassador-designate Bernadette Therese C. Fernandez received the courtesy call of the delegation from the Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines (ULAP) on 24 September 2025. ULAP, as recognized by E.O. 351, s. 2004, is the umbrella organization of all leagues of local government units (LGUs) and leagues and federations of local elective and appointive officials. It serves as the focal representative and mouthpiece of the subnational government in all policy and program platforms to amplify a unified advocacy towards the strengthening of the LGUs into able partners in nation-building.
