THE PHILIPPINE EMBASSY IN SEOUL THROUGH THE MWO–OWWA SOUTH KOREA HONORS 360 OFW GRADUATES AT 2025 SKILLS TRAINING PROGRAM GRADUATION CEREMONY


Ambassador Bernadette Therese C. Fernandez graced the occasion and delivered a heartfelt message to the graduates, inspiring them to continue striving for excellence. She also personally handed the Certificates of Appreciation to the dedicated trainers in recognition of their invaluable contribution to the program. The program formally opened with an encouraging message from the Labor Attaché and concluded with meaningful closing remarks from Welfare Officer Ms. Cornelia D.G. Chanco, who commended the graduates for their perseverance and thanked the trainers for their unwavering commitment to empowering our OFWs through skills development.

December 7, 2025, Seoul. The Philippine Embassy in Seoul, through the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) in South Korea, successfully held the 2025 Skills Training Program Graduation Ceremony on December 7, 2025, at the Ramada by Wyndham Seoul Dongdaemun, celebrating the achievements of 360 Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) graduates who completed various livelihood and skills training courses throughout the year.

The graduation ceremony forms part of the “Alagang OWWA” agenda of OWWA Administrator Patricia Yvonne “PY” Caunan, which prioritizes the holistic welfare, empowerment, and reintegration preparedness of OFWs through continuous skills development and livelihood support.

Welcome Remarks were delivered by Labor Attaché Rosemarie G. Duquez, who commended the graduates for their dedication despite the demands of overseas work. She emphasized that the training programs serve not only as livelihood preparation but also as a meaningful avenue for personal growth, empowerment, and community building among OFWs.

An Inspirational Message was delivered by Her Excellency Ambassador Bernadette Therese C. Fernandez, who highlighted the importance of giving back to the community, encouraging the graduates to use their newly acquired skills not only for personal success but also to uplift fellow Filipinos and contribute to the community.

On behalf of the trainees, Ms. Amie Oh delivered a heartfelt message of gratitude to the Philippine Embassy, MWO, and OWWA, underscoring how the programs fostered entrepreneurship, confidence, and hope for a better future. Mr. Melodino Alao, Jr. likewise expressed appreciation for the trainers, facilitators, and program implementers, describing the Philippine Embassy and MWO–OWWA as a “home away from home” that eases homesickness and strengthens solidarity among OFWs.

Closing Remarks were delivered by Welfare Officer Cornelia DG. Chanco, who congratulated the graduates for their perseverance and commitment to self-improvement. She likewise expressed her heartfelt gratitude to all the trainers and facilitators for their dedication, patience, and invaluable contributions in empowering the OFWs through quality skills training. She emphasized that the success of the program would not have been possible without the selfless efforts of the trainers who generously shared their time, knowledge, and expertise.

The MWO–OWWA 2025 Skills Training Program reflects the continuing commitment of the Philippine Government to protect, empower, and prepare OFWs for sustainable livelihoods—whether abroad or upon reintegration into the Philippines. Through the Alagang OWWA agenda, the agency continues to deliver inclusive, responsive, and transformative programs that strengthen Filipino workers and their families.

The event concluded with a festive atmosphere as the graduates, embassy officials, and partners shared early Christmas greetings, reinforcing the spirit of unity, gratitude, and hope among the Filipino community in South Korea. END

The graduation ceremony was highlighted by impressive performances from our talented OFWs, showcasing not only their skills but also their creativity and confidence. The event also featured a meaningful photo opportunity with Ambassador Bernadette Therese C. Fernandez, OWWA staff, trainers, and graduates—symbolizing unity and shared commitment to empowering our migrant workers. One of the highlights of the program was the awarding of Best Trainees from the different skills training programs, recognizing their dedication, excellence, and perseverance throughout the course.

GMA Municipality Officials Call on PH Ambassador

25 February 2026, Seoul, Republic of Korea — Philippine Ambassador to the Republic of Korea H.E. Bernadette Therese Fernandez welcomed officials of the Municipality of General Mariano Alvarez (GMA) in Cavite, led by Sangguniang Bayan Member Angela Lenin Paycana, on 25 February 2026.  The GMA officials were in the Republic of Korea on a study visit as part of the Feasibility Study for the Digital Transformation of the Schedule of Market Values (SMV) and Real Property Tax (RPT) Valuation Standards.  The project would support the GMA Municipality in establishing a modern, transparent and reliable RPT system that could be a model for other municipalities and cities in terms of predicting the schedule of fair market values of the properties in their respective jurisdictions.  The project would provide recommendations for improving the current system of property/land valuation in the Philippines.

PH EMBASSY WELCOMES OSHDP DELEGATION ON BENCHMARKING STUDY MISSION IN KOREA

04 February 2026, Seoul — The Philippine Embassy in Seoul, led by Ambassador Bernadette Therese C. Fernandez, received a delegation from the Organization of Socialized and Economic Housing Developers of the Philippines Inc. (OSHDP) at the Sentro Rizal Conference Room. Embassy officials, together with representatives of the Social Security System and Pag-IBIG Fund Member Services, joined the productive discussions on improving services for Filipinos in Korea, including access to Pag-IBIG and SSS programs, and support for OFWs and residents investing in housing back home.
