27 August 2025, Seoul – In celebration of the 2025 ASEAN Month, the Philippine Embassy in Seoul, led by Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Edwin Gil Q. Mendoza, participated in the ASEAN-Korea Centre’s (AKC) 2025 ASEAN School Tour Program.
On 22 August 2025, CDA a.i Mendoza delivered a special lecture titled “Discover the Philippines” to 35 students from Youngsun Middle School at the AKC headquarters in Seoul. The presentation began with an introduction to the Philippines’ history, culture, and geography, followed by a showcase of the country’s top tourist destinations, including Bohol, Cebu, Clark, Kalibo, and Manila. The students showed great interest and enthusiasm, actively engaging in a Q&A and trivia session that highlighted fun and fascinating facts about the Philippines.
Before the lecture, the students took part in an immersive cultural experience at the ASEAN-Korea Connecting Lounge, where interactive and hands-on activities highlighted the diverse cultures of the 10 ASEAN Member States. AKC project officers also provided an overview of ASEAN, the work of international organizations, and the role of the AKC. The ASEAN Golden Bell Quiz added a dynamic element to the program, testing the students' knowledge of ASEAN.
Since its launch in 2009, the AKC’s ASEAN School Tour Program has received strong support from the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea and relevant government offices in the Seoul Metropolitan Area. The program continues to attract increasing interest from Korean middle and high school students each year.
The Philippine Embassy in Seoul remains committed to supporting the AKC’s efforts to foster greater awareness and appreciation of ASEAN, while promoting stronger cultural and educational ties between the Philippines and the Republic of Korea.END
