Seoul, 19 September 2026 – The Philippines participated in the 49th International Emigration & Investment Fair, held from 19 to 20 September 2026 at COEX, Seoul, Republic of Korea, showcasing various retirement and long-stay destinations as well as the Special Resident Retiree’s Visa (SRRV) for foreign retirees.

Ambassador Bernadette Therese C. Fernandez and Tourism Attaché Dr. Erwin F. Balane led the team from the Philippine Department of Tourism – Korea, in supporting the Philippine Retirement Authority (PRA), to promote the Philippines as a retirement destination. During her visit to the fair, the Ambassador underscored that the ROK is a very important market for the Philippines’ retirement and long-stay sector. The Philippines offers diverse natural environments, distinctive lifestyles across its destinations, and a wide range of tourism and leisure experiences, providing Koreans with various options to discover a new way of life that suits their individual preferences.

PRA's Advertising and Promotions Division Chief Atty. Roela R. Dela Pena and Resident Retiree Servicing Department Manager Marilou F. Cantancio presented to Korean attendees a wide range of destinations catering to different lifestyles, from urban centers such as Makati and Cebu, to highland retreats including Tagaytay and Baguio, coastal and nature destinations such as El Nido and Coron in Palawan, and other long-stay options including Dumaguete and Lipa. Tourism and leisure experiences such as sailing in Boracay, island hopping in El Nido, scuba diving in Moalboal, and golf were also highlighted, presenting retirement in the Philippines as a lifestyle that combines long-term living with travel and leisure.
